Take Note: Minor delays expected with drainage work on Commerce Drive

The impact

Work has begun on storm drainage improvements crossing Commerce Drive at West Ponce de Leon Avenue. A similar drainage improvement across Commerce Drive just north of West Trinity Place will start on Monday, August 19.

The work will require roughly 2 weeks of temporary lane closures. Two-way traffic will be maintained during construction.

Further details

The work is part of the Commerce Drive Cycle Track project, which began in April and is expected take about 12 months to complete.

The City of Decatur is partnering with the PATH Foundation to build the cycle track (also called “protected bicycle lanes”) on Commerce Drive between Clairemont Avenue and West Trinity Place and from West Trinity Place to North McDonough Street, where it will connect with the recently completed North McDonough cycle track. More details about the project can be found here.
