Severed Powerline Knocks Out Power Downtown
UPDATE: Power has been restored and Decatur High School is resuming operations as normal, including lunch.
A contractor working the N. McDonough streetscape overhaul has hit an unmarked powerline on North McDonough Street, just after noon today, knocking out power to a significant portion of downtown Decatur, including Decatur High School.
No explosion took place and no injuries have been reported. Georgia Power is on the scene and repairs are underway.
