The details
Work associated with our the city’s new downtown Decatur crosswalks (see them mapped here) is now underway and is expected to continue intermittently through November 20.
The impact
The three areas of potential disruption are:
Concrete ADA ramp ends
This work began Saturday, October 29 and will continue through Thursday, November 3. Generally restricted to sidewalk areas.
Asphalt replacement at required locations (Fairview, Jimmy Johns, Marshall, E Court)
Thursday and Friday, November 3 and 4.
Concrete crosswalks
Between Monday, November 7 and Sunday, November 20.
How to manage
Two-way vehicle traffic will generally be maintained during the work, though flagman/directional efforts may cause minor delays. Some work associated with the concrete crosswalks will cause limited road closures. Specific dates and locations are forthcoming.
In most cases, Commerce Drive can provide an alternate route from one side of the city to the other.
Work will avoid the Wine Festival weekend, November 5 and 6.
