Severed Powerline Knocks Out Power Downtown

UPDATE: Power has been restored and Decatur High School is resuming operations as normal, including lunch.

A contractor working the N. McDonough streetscape overhaul has hit an unmarked powerline on North McDonough Street, just after noon today, knocking out power to a significant portion of downtown Decatur, including Decatur High School.

No explosion took place and no injuries have been reported. Georgia Power is on the scene and repairs are underway.

Removal of Tree Required for Candler Railroad Intersection Improvements

A number of residents have commented about the removal of the magnolia in the traffic island at North Candler Street and East Trinity Place.
