Construction of the new office building on the former Callaway property will start on Monday, January 28. The building will be located at the corner of West Trinity Place and North McDonough Street and requires a partial closure of the eastbound lane of West Trinity Place.
How to manage
Throughout construction, through traffic will be able to bypass vehicles lined up to enter the Dekalb County parking deck, then shift left as the roadway is narrowed. See illustration below (click for larger view) for traffic patterns.
Featuring 34,000 square feet of Class A office space with ground floor retail, this will be the first new multi-story office building in downtown Decatur in 20 years. Construction is expected to last about 6 months.
Cousins Properties and AMLI are the team responsible for the Callaway redevelopment project. As a $60 million construction effort receiving no tax incentives, the project will contribute roughly $560,000 a year to the City Schools of Decatur and $280,000 a year to the City’s General Fund.
