The details
A crumbling terracotta sanitary sewer line was exposed recently during the City’s ongoing stormwater project, revealing considerable deficiencies. DeKalb County (who manages the City’s water and waste infrastructure) has assessed its condition and will be installing a new sewer line on East Howard Avenue and Barry Street.
The impact
Work by the county begins today and will run concurrently with our stormwater project. It is expected to take 4-6 weeks.
How to manage
Barry Street south of Pate Street will be two-way (for local traffic only) for the duration of construction. Its connection to East Howard will be temporarily closed.
