Downtown Pavement Striping Taking Place on Ponce de Leon Avenue

Weather permitting, traffic striping will be refreshed on Ponce de Leon Avenue between Nelson Ferry Road and North Candler Street starting today, June 24. The work will last through the middle of next week and if delayed by weather conditions, may continue during the week of July 3. Stay tuned here for any applicable revisions or updates...

Decorative Crosswalk Installation Underway

Installation of the bright, bold and decorative thermoplastic markings -- the last step for our new downtown crosswalks -- is now officially underway.

Greg Farley, from project designers Lampe-Farley Marketing Communications, sends along this video from 335 West Ponce de Leon Avenue between Jimmy Johns and Mellow Mushroom:

Decorative Crosswalk Construction Wraps Up This Month

Bright, unique, decorative designs will be installed on the City’s new downtown crosswalks (see them mapped here) starting Thursday, January 12. The work will start on the west side of town and proceed to the east, with the new speed table at Ponce de Leon and Clairemont Avenue being done last. One additional crosswalk will be located in the 100 block of East Trinity Place...

Detours on Ponce de Leon for Crosswalk Construction Start Wednesday, November 16

As part of the city crosswalk replacement program, new concrete crosswalks are being built at two locations in downtown Decatur. A new raised mid-block crosswalk will be built in the 200 block on East Ponce de Leon Avenue near North Candler Street and a raised speed table will be installed over the entire intersection at Clairemont and Ponce de Leon Avenues...

Autaco Development will begin testing asphalt at 8:30 am on Tuesday, July 26, at the locations of new downtown Decatur crosswalks (see them mapped here). There are 7 new crosswalks planned for downtown Decatur. Six are located at various locations on East and West Ponce de Leon Avenue and one is in the 100 block of East Trinity Place.
