Pedestrian Beacons on East College and South Candler to be Replaced

The impact

The flashing pedestrian crossing beacons on East College Avenue at Agnes Scott College and on South Candler Street at East Dougherty Street will be replaced starting Tuesday, August 14. The work is expected to take one week.

The existing beacons were solar-powered and have not proven dependable due to the large amount of shade in the area and other factors. The new beacons will be hard-wired to permanent power.

How to manage

Through vehicular traffic will not be impacted. Pedestrians should use caution, making sure vehicles have come to a complete stop before crossing the street.
