Downtown RR Crossing Paving and Streetscape Improvements Continue This Week

The impact

Street re-surfacing in downtown Decatur is expected continue on Wednesday, August 2, and Thursday, August 3. This work will be limited to the intersection at College Avenue and South McDonough Street and possibly the intersection of East Trinity Place, East Howard Avenue and North Candler Street.

How to manage

There will be temporary lane closures and traffic delays during the work. Pedestrian access will remain open throughout the project area.

Although much progress was made last week on the North McDonough Streetscape and Railroad Crossing Improvements, please be aware that these are still active construction projects. Sidewalks are generally open and accessible to residents, students and visitors. However, construction activities will be underway for a few more weeks. These include completion of the North McDonough bicycle lanes, installation of new streetlights on the east side of North McDonough Street, new traffic signals at the McDonough and Candler railroad crossings, and sidewalk and trail improvements near the Old Decatur Depot.
